Silverlight 2 development using only Visual Studio?

OK, so see questions like this and this , and the question I have is - do I need to use Expression Blend to develop Silverlight or can any of them be done only with Visual Studio? (In this case, in 2008)

I have not started using Silverlight yet, and through MSDN in the workplace I can get Expression Blend without any problems, but for my side work I need to drop $ 499 for Expression Blend 2? (I know there is a lawsuit, but I think about it)

Obviously, I am worried that there is a huge financial investment to get into Silverlight development, and I already own Visual Studio 2008 - is it possible to do development without Expression Blend, or would it just be impossible?

You can do everything in Visual Studio. But again, you can do everything in Notepad ... it all depends on how much this tool will help you in this process. Having Blend will be a great asset in terms of design, but for you in terms of programming the application, you really have nothing to do. Download the trial version and see how it works ... if it adds value and saves time, then it is worth the purchase.

That's quite possible. If you don’t care about eye candy. Blend is more a developer tool than a development tool.

You can try the special edition of Microsoft Action Pack for Web Solutions , if you are at least a Microsoft registered partner .

And now you can even use Eclipse. :)
