HTML Reporting Solution

Question

What good components and packages are available for generating HTML reports based on report definitions? I have a truly terrible project in which each report is a dedicated aspx page that creates one fantastically large HTML string, which is then assigned to the ReportBody control unit.

Standard grids are not a good solution because they do not provide grouping capabilities, but I am open to buying grids convenient for grouping, printing, and exporting. FYI is one version of a reporting mechanism that I will look at. What else is there? SSRS may not be an option, since MSSQL may not even be an option.

By the way, this is an ASP.NET website.

I made a quick prototype of this in a day. But by the time you’ve developed all the small details to give the reports all the necessary functions, and to make them look right, you’ll spend a lot of time and get a small mountain of code.
