How to choose colors in web development

When I create a site, I try to do a bit of graphic design (developer style) in Paint.NET, but how do I know that all colors will display correctly in all browsers on different machines? What color depth do you usually encode? 16 bit 256 colors, etc.

I'm not worried about whether colors will be displayed everywhere, since even the most basic cell phones support 16-bit color.

In my opinion, the days with to worry about "safe on the Internet" colors have basically ended.

Until you use colors that are incredibly similar to each other, you should be good.

According to w3schools , only 2% of visitors still have 256-color displays. If you do not use web colors, they simply see several different colors from what you intended, so there is no reason to adhere to web colors that really limit your choice.
