Whenever I am at a breakpoint in a particular C # .NET application in Visual Studio 2008, and I start Microsoft Word 2007, the word does not open until I restart the C # application. I have a few theories about why, but does anyone know for sure?
This may be due to Word sending DDE messages to top-level windows, and your application cannot process it because it hangs in the debugger. Raymond Chen has a blog post about this (although not directly related to the debugger, but with the same effect).
