For prototyping on small embedded projects that require physical movement, what prototyping hardware is available? For my projects, I try to find more time (i.e. wood, aluminum, etc.) and make the right reductions, measurements and connections, than to write software and set up electrical equipment.
Are there any products available that will allow me to create physical hardware that is strong enough to support movement? If not, what methods or tools are available to quickly develop physical equipment?
Currently, I usually build my projects from the wooden and plastic waste that I lay. What types of materials make prototypes faster?
REFINEMENT: By movement, I mean something that must withstand voltage, such as a robot arm actuated by a servo motor, and can handle 1-2 pounds of movement or transfer.
