Help someone new in C # variables

Question

I am trying to store data in a database at the click of a button, but the variables seem private in the nature of where they are defined. I tried moving to where they are defined, but this seems to cause other errors.

Given the fix, why was it fixed this way?

You declare dTableand adapterin the constructor, so it goes out of scope as soon as the constructor completed.

You want to move variable declarations to the main class, for example:

public partial class Form1 : Form
{
    private DataTable dTable;
    private OleDbDataAdapter adapter;

    Public Form1()
    {
         ... your setup here ...
         dTable = new DataTable();
         ... etc ...
    }
}
