Can SQLExpress 2005 and 2008 be installed on the same computer without problems?

I would like to install SQLExpress2005 as an instance of "SQLExpress" and install SQLExpresss2008 as an instance of "SQLExpress2008".

Is there a problem with doing this on the same machine?

As long as you give them different names, there should be no problem. Binary files are stored in directories based on the version, and you can (and should) list your filegroups in different places. This should also apply to full versions.

Works on my machine :) Just avoid instance conflicts. Have no more than one instance by default, and the named instance must be unique.
