How to force two browser windows to use the same "session"?

I have an application that should open a new window (in the same domain) so that the user can view the report, but in some browsers * the new window does not use the inconsistent cookie of the original window, which forces the user to log in again. Is there anything I can do to prevent the user from entering a new window again?

IE7 seems to generate new processes with a different algorithm than IE6, and may cause session cookie problems .
