How to use .NET 3.0 with Visual Studio 2005?

My google-fu doesn't give me an answer to this question.

I have an employee who has Visual Studio 2005 on his machine. I have Visual Studio 2008. He wants to open a project that I wrote in C # 3.0, and we got this far, but VS2005 barfs on a 3.0-comp, for example var.

It has the frameworks 3.0 and 3.5, as well as Visual Studio 2005 extensions for Windows Workflow. What else does he need? Or are we pursuing a lost cause, a wild goose chase caused by my thinking that I heard that this is possible somewhere once?

Please do not offer to install VS2008 or Express version. It is simply not possible at this time. :(
