Internet Explorer 8 beta 2 and standards

Internet Explorer 8 breaks down what should be on every third page I look at. The essence of this early release was, I believe, to give website owners the opportunity to update their sites so that this would not be such a problem for the final version.

Has anyone really done this?

Does anyone even plan to do this?

I have not noticed any of the major sites like ebay, myspace, facebook, etc., so why small sites if they can just use compatibility mode?

I think I will do it with mine, but how can you maintain your site with IE7 and 8?

According to Microsoft IE8, Acid2 test passes . The problem may be that all users are so used to IE7 problems that they have created so many conditional workarounds for IE that it now breaks when IE8 approaches standards.

Well, herds are quite a myth. This is not one true standard. If you don't believe me, just read Joel's article on this.
