How to get hardware screen capture?

In the past, some of my projects have required me to create a movie version of a full-screen Flash application. The easiest way to do this is to get a screen capture. However, capturing anything over 1024x768 resulted in intermittent video, which is unacceptable. I understand that there are hardware solutions for capturing full-screen video, but I could not find out what it is. My output should be scalable to 1920x1080 and lead to an uncompressed AVI file without interruption.
