What are the main benefits of ASP.NET web forms?

What are the main benefits of ASP.NET Webforms (2.0-3.5)? I'm not looking for comparisons with other frameworks, I'm just looking for feedback on ASP.NET, as it stands today.

One key strength (for some) is the drag and drop development environment integrated into Visual Studio. This allows you to run simple things quickly and quickly, but it can also be a responsibility when the time comes, when you really need to understand the basic code.
