Primary VmWare Hard Drive Extension

I have a VmWare virtual machine that is approaching a dangerous approximation of the limit of the hard drive, and I need to expand it. How should I do it? I am working with VmWare Workstation 6.0.5

This link provides two approaches that should help.

This seems like the easiest method:

vmware-vdiskmanager -x 12GB path\to\disk.vmdk

where 12 GB is the desired size of the expanded volume.

I do not know about version 6.0.5, but in previous versions there was a program called vmware-vdiskmanager in the VMWare program directory. You can use this to expand the virtual disk container.
