TIGER shapefiles - usage and interpretation

I know the US GIS TIGER file format from years ago, but have never used it.

Very soon I will need a very fast implementation of simple geocoding and vector graphics of roads and other functions.

  • Where can I search for information - are there any tutorials, sample queries, etc.

Are there other ways to incorporate geocoding and basic mapping into a mobile (without an Internet device)?

As far as I know, there are not many applications that directly use the TIGER / Line format. Most applications use TIGER files that have been converted to the ESRI shapefile format.
