Does anyone have any Sphinx speech recognition experience?

Has anyone used the Sphinx speech recognition stack to create IVR applications? I am looking for open source alternatives for an expensive and somewhat restrictive choice from MSFT and others. I could not find a comprehensive package that bundles open source / voip applications together.

The last thing I looked at Sphinx, it had problems with the 8khz sound, which resulted in a really bad job. There are not many people talking about the successful deployment of Sphinx in real life, but you may be able to get it to work with some amazing efforts. See here for more info:

The closest to open-source that really works is to use LumenVox with Asterisk. Asterisk is an open source PBX that you can use to integrate with a VoIP service or gateway, or even with PSTN. LumenVox is a commercial speech engine that integrates with Asterisk:

There many people successfully use LumenVox with Asterisk.
