Standardized Text Editing Behavior in Mac Applications

I recently switched to Mac, and although everything is going well, very different actions for editing text in applications infuriate me.

Home, End, Page Up, Page Down, Apple-arrow, Ctrl-arrow, alt-arrow, Etc. often perform different actions depending on the application.

Is there a way to standardize this behavior?

There are standards, but they are not based on what you are used to from the windows. It drove me crazy until I got over and decided to find out what the actual standards were. Since then I have been sold.

I use:

  • Command- Left/ Right- Go to beginning / end of line
    • ctrl - a/e, , ssh
  • Command - Up/Down - /

  • Option - Left/Right - / /

home/end/pgup/pgdown ctrl - Left/Right .
