An iPhone application that provides access to the primary layout structure via a web interface

I was wondering if I can access the iPhone cell layout infrastructure on the website?

My goal is to create a website / website that the iPhone will work for, and then upload its current GPS location. It would be a simple site for friends / family so we can find each other. I can force them to manually enter lng / lat, but this is not the easiest thing to look for. If the iPhone can display or download it automatically, that would be great.

I don't own a Mac yet (expecting a new Mac Book Pro), but now I will be a little more automatic. Once I have a mac, I can download the SDK and build a better version later. The webapp version will be great for now, if possible. Thank.

Why not just use the W3C GeoLocation API, available on mobile Safari? This will work on ipod touch (suburban accuracy).

This is literally 10 lines of code and JavaScript will work unchanged in Firefox 3.5. Much easier than scratching any third-party site.

iPhone App

Although this cannot directly answer your question, there are quite a few iPhone apps that already do this kind of thing with GPS. Instamapper is the first one I pulled out of the app store, but I'm sure you can find something that fits your needs.

We have created a really thin iphone client application that simply names a predefined .js file on our website. It works like a charm.

See the arisgames.org project for a project.
