New project: MySQL or SQL 2005 Express

Question

I am starting a new client / server project at work, and I want to start using some of the new technologies that I read about, and LINQ and Generics are the main ones. So far, I have been developing these types of applications with MySQL, as the clients did not want to pay the high cost of licenses for MSSQL.

I played in small numbers with express versions, but I never developed anything with them. The new application will not have more than 5 simultaneous connections, but will be necessary for daily reporting.

• Can I still download MSSQL 2005? I can not find it on the Microsoft website. I would not dare to use MSSQL 2008 in the project immediately after its release.

• Whether the express version is adequate for my needs, I am sure that many people reading this have used them. Have a problem?

• Yes express can be downloaded .

• Does this fit your requirements? Of course, it depends on your requirements. I deployed MSSQL2005 Express on several enterprise-level projects that I knew had a fixed database size that would never be exceeded (Express has a limit of each 4Gb database). Also keep in mind that there are other hardware limitations, such as a 1 cpu limit.
