Submission of file request submission on Windows sharing?

Question

Is there a way to get something that looks the same as a file in a shared Windows file, but is it really a resource served by HTTP?

In the context, I am working with an old application that can only process files in a shared Windows file, I want to create a simple HTTP-based service to dynamically maintain the contents of files in order to receive real-time changes to the underlying data on request
