ASP.NET Proxy Application

Let me try to explain what I need. I have a server that is visible from the Internet. I need to create an ASP.NET application that will receive a request to a website and send to an internal server, then receive a response and publish the information. For the client, this should be completely transparent.

For various reasons, I cannot forward the port to the internal server. What I can do, but I donโ€™t know how, maybe there is an answer, is to create a new website that has its host on another server.

Why doesn't any old proxy software work for this? Why should it be an ASP.NET application? There are TONS tools (both Windows and * nix) that can easily do this. Check out Squid or NetProxy for starters.

If you need to integrate with IIS, IISProxy seems to help too.

I am using apache mod_proxy and mod_proxy_balancer. A terrific launch of 5 domains in a cluster of 4 web boxes works.
