I am making a 2d game in the Terraria / Starbound perspective. I want the lighting to look something like this:
Ive tried to get lighting like this by adding material to all the sprites in my game and then providing them with a sprite diffuse shader. Then I made a light light wherever I needed light. Where there are two problems with this: 1) Where the light was most intense, it depleted the color of the sprite and made it brighter. 2) I noticed a big drop in FPS (And I only had 1 spot light!).
Is there any way to achieve such lighting without having to write my own lighting engine? I was looking for an asset repository, and I was looking to make sure Unity has any way to convey 2D lighting from this angle, but I didn't find anything.
