I have the following program that sets RLIMIT_CPUin 2 seconds with setrlimit()and catches a signal. RLIMIT_CPUlimits processor time. "When a process reaches a soft limit, it sends a signal SIGXCPU. The default action for this signal is to terminate the process. However, the signal can be caught and the handler can return control to the main program." ( man )
The following program sets up RLIMIT_CPUand a signal handler for SIGXCPU, then generates random numbers until SIGXCPUit is raised, the signal handler will simply exit the program.
