What happens when one of Kafka's replicas

I have a cluster of 2 Kafka brokers and a theme with a replication rate of 2. If one of the brokers dies, will my producers be able to continue sending new messages to this degraded cluster from 1 node? Or, for replication factor 2, 2 live nodes are required, and messages will be refused?

Messages will not be ignored if not. live brokers have fewer replicas. Whenever a new Kafka broker joins a cluster, the data is replicated to this node.

You can reproduce this scenario by setting the replication ratio to 3 or more and running only one broker.

It depends on several factors:

  • acks? "", ACK, ISR. , ACK .
  • min.insync.replicas? , , .
