Does firebase host CloudFlare?

I was looking at https://material-ui-next.comone that seems to be running on the Firebase host and is using CloudFlare on top of it.

This raised the question. Do firebase hosting sites need extra layers for things like DDoS protection? As I know, firebase provides SSL, CDN, DDoS and out-of-box caching? When would you like to add CloudFlare on top of this?
