I am trying to create client code for the OData v4 service using Visual Studio. My service runs on a server that does not have a DNS name and uses a self-signed certificate for HTTPS. My service is not available through HTTP.
When I run the OData Client Code code generator template, I get an SSL error message at the bottom of this message. When I try to add a service through the "Add a connected service" context menu, I get an error message that cannot connect.
I believe that VS does not connect to my service, because the SSL certificate does not match the domain name of the URL, because the server is accessed through the IP address, and not by the domain name. If it was a client program, I could write my own certificate verification procedure by overriding the existing policy. However, since this code works in Visual Studio, I do not have access to the runtime (I think).
Of course, I am not the first person who could do this. How do you create an OData client when your service is only available through an IP address?
