Given AppUserModelID (AUMID) Is there a way to get the application name from this data (without trying to do some string manipulation in AppUserModelID)?
I am looking for an api call to handle this or something like that.
In the case below, the application name will be "Microsoft Edge"
<start:Tile Size="2x2" Column="0" Row="2" AppUserModelID="Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge_8wekyb3d8bbwe!MicrosoftEdge" />
How can I change the following code to accept AUMID instead of application name.
function Pin-App { param(
[string]$appname,
[switch]$unpin
)
try{
if ($unpin.IsPresent){
((New-Object -Com Shell.Application).NameSpace('shell:::{4234d49b-0245-4df3-b780-3893943456e1}').Items() | ?{$_.Name -eq $appname}).Verbs() | ?{$_.Name.replace('&','') -match 'Unpin from Start'} | %{$_.DoIt()}
return "App '$appname' unpinned from Start"
}else{
((New-Object -Com Shell.Application).NameSpace('shell:::{4234d49b-0245-4df3-b780-3893943456e1}').Items() | ?{$_.Name -eq $appname}).Verbs() | ?{$_.Name.replace('&','') -match 'Pin to Start'} | %{$_.DoIt()}
return "App '$appname' pinned to Start"
}
}catch{
Write-Error "Error Pinning/Unpinning App! (App-Name correct?)"
}
}
this powershell function will work by providing "Microsoft Edge" as the application name.
