How to use Butterknife new butterknife.debuggable option?

Butterknife 8.8.0 introduced a new processor option butterknife.debuggable( link to the change log ). This is true by default. Where to set it to false in the build.gradle file? I tried to post it in mine defaultConfig, but I keep getting the error:

Could not get unknown property 'butterknife'...

It looks like Butterknife reflects the attribute of debuggableyour current configuration. The installation debuggableinside your defaultConfigor any other type of assembly must also be installed butterknife.debuggable.

EDIT: . Gradle, butterknife.debuggable:

javaCompileOptions.annotationProcessorOptions.arguments['butterknife.debuggable'] = 'false'
