Indent gist problem

Question

When creating a Gist on Github, there is a setting for indentation (tabs or spaces, size 2, 4 or 8). After setting the indentation for tabs of size 4, after saving the value, size 8 changes. Editing his afterwords does nothing. Other settings also do not give the expected result. For some reason, I misunderstand this function? Cannot find documentation on this.
