WPF Vector Interface

I am working on a new C # application using WPF. I had the impression that WPF was based on a vector and that the text / buttons would be drawn independently of each other. When starting the application, it is pretty obvious that my application is not drawn using vectors. Some of the text becomes quite blocky, and when using the magnifying glass window you can see rough edges on everything.

Is there anything special in my application to draw a vector drawing? Or is there something wrong with my particular machine? (I am using Windows Vista x64 with the latest graphics drivers)
