Notepad ++ double click select word include other non-word characters

I have been using notepad ++ for a long time. One functionality that I use is double-clicking on a word so that it is on its own, and all appearances in the same file should be highlighted. But the latest update seems to be changing the definition of word boundaries. In particular, if there are leading or terminating tabs around a word, all of them are highlighted (causing other occurrences of the same word, but without tabs around them so as NOT to be highlighted), and if parentheses are closed after the word (but paren does not open), they are also selectable.

I played with Settings-> Preferences-> Delimiter to no avail, because it only allows you to add characters as part of a word, but I want to subtract tabs and brackets. What should I do? thank.

After checking plugins and other possible configurations. I just closed and restarted the Notepad ++ application and the original problem somehow disappeared. I leave this answer here if other users are observing similar behavior.
