Is there a difference in the mentioned verbs that are used in relation to functions?
Initially, I thought they meant the same thing, and people use it interchangeably. Now I'm not 100% sure. I feel that there is a chance that I can skip an important piece of information while trying to understand the content associated with the code. I also take a lot of notes, and I didn't think very much about how to use these terms. If I answered the millionth question about the differences between the three, I would say:
- 'function was called ' - the function was launched, but not necessarily returned results
- 'function completed - the function was called and the result returned
- 'function was called ' - the function was called inside the function (therefore, we use the term "callback")
Above was just my gut feeling. If someone asked me to explain some of my lines, I don’t know which verbs I will use to describe him. I probably would have accidentally made a choice between three in order to feel smart.
I tried to research this terminology, but could not find any relevant information. Many thanks.
