We have inherited the contents of a 10-year-old website with several links in it that make the link open on the current tab. You cannot click on the link and open a new tab, or even copy and paste the URL, because it uses javascript and doPostBack (I don’t know why, old, old code).
In any case, I know that this is a bad user interface, since it is essentially a list of results, and you will definitely want to open them in new tabs, as well as crazy, to try to stop the default browser behavior.
But I wonder if there is anything specific in WCAG2.0 that says we cannot do this? I am trying to make a case to change it, but bad UX will not be enough. WCAG, however, will receive it through the line. Can someone point me to something in the guidelines for accessibility of web content that explicitly states that a website should not do this?
Great importance.
