HTML5 API: is there a limit to the size of a piece of a downloaded file?

I use the FineUploader library to download files of about 5 GB in size. Everything works well with a block size of 1 MB, but I think this size is quite small and I want to increase it. So I tried with 10 MB and it stopped working. Trying to use other sizes, I found that with 4 MB or more, the download stops working. What's going on here? Is this a limitation of the File API or browser (I tried with Chrome and Firefox)?
