Kubernetes - Removing Pets Does Not Remove Pods

I am in an environment where we still use pets. When I run the following command:

kubectl delete petsets <petset-name>

The pet pack is deleted, but its associated containers (pets) are not removed. When I tried this locally on minikube using statefulsets, statefulsets, as well as pods are removed. Is this pet behavior? or is it a mistake with the help of pets or my environment? Is there any way to debug this? Because when I checked the documentation here: petsets , it seems the pods should have been removed !?
