LINKERD: pending external IP address in Kubernetes on Ubuntu

I installed kubernetes on my ubuntu machine when I tried to run the following command. I see the external IP as "pending", where svc.yml is the service object in linkerd, link below

The Yamal specified by you for the Service has type: LoadBalancer. This will only work with the cloud provider - so not on your simple Ubuntu metal installation.

Change the service definition and specify a different type, for example clusterIP
