Facebook messenger - is it possible to disable the payload button in a common template?

I am trying to create a chatbot in FB messenger. One point in my stream displays a confirmation-style view when the user selects confirmation if they want to continue. I use the “Common Template” and two feedback buttons to achieve this, which gives the interface I'm looking for.

The problem is that the buttons remain visible to the rest of the conversation. I obviously can code to prevent the second call, but it would be nice to lose the parameters after they were selected.

Is there any way to do this? The best I can find is to replace the post-answers with “quick answers”, but they do not look good and seem a bit erroneous when used in the browser (buttons appeared on top of my template, not below).

Any suggestions gratefully received!
