Constantly Resize Kubernets

What would be a good approach to troubleshooting storage issues when your services run out of free reading space?

For example, I have a gitlab service running on kubernets installed with the Chart Helm Chart. I used the default settings, but now I have run out of free space for gitlab. What would be the ideal approach to solve this problem?

  • Is there any way to increase PV size?
  • Should I somehow backup gitlab data, recreate it with a lot of memory?
  • Is there any way to back up and restore data from PV-s, so there is no dataloss? I am open to any suggestion on how to deal with the problem when your PersistentVolume becomes full!

Thanks for your answers, Bens Pyataksuk

Anyway, can I increase the size of the PV?

There is no official way to increase PV size in Kubernete, in fact, I do not think that it is Kubernetes’s responsibility. Here is a related issue.

But you can increase it manually in two stages:

  • Increase the PV size in the backend memory, for example. Resize GCE pd
  • Change the PV size definition in the Kubernetes cluster, for example. kubectl edit pv <pv_id>

, . PV (, ) → → → , PV .
