Wordpress on Azure WebApp in a virtual directory - not an application

Question

I am trying to run WordPress in a virtual directory (the application is NOT selected), i.e. site.com/blog.

WordPress sites work fine, except that HTTP POST (submission forms) do not work. They return 200, but no action is taken, i.e. The login is simply returned to enter.

The main site is fundamentally complex, with great web.config. If I try to make the "/ blog" virtual directory in the application, WordPress will fail with many errors due to the inherited web.config.

Any ideas?
