Send iOS Push notification in php with .p8 file

Apple has updated its push notification service, and the resulting certificate file is now a .p8 file. There are many online examples of how to send a push notification with a .pem file, but I cannot find anything for the .p8 file. Does anyone have code that works with a .p8 file?

When using the script below, I can send push notifications using a .p8 file.

The minimum version of curl that supports this is 7.38.0, and must be compiled with the flag --with-nghttp2 and openssl> = 1.0.2
