Storing large JSON - binary or text

Question

I have many posts and I find many different answers.

Starting MYSQL 5.7, I have a large JSON object that does not need a query that just stores. Use JSONseems inefficient - I don't need to check it. What is the best solution in this case? BLOBor TEXT- the obvious choice, but what is the best choice of the two?

Binary needs to be converted back to text (how is it best for you to do it? PHP or during SQL query?) Wilst text should be returned. I would really appreciate any clarification ...
