How to fix "CoffeeScript not defined" template error

I am trying to open a presentation for my project. but I get this error:

ActionView::Template::Error (ReferenceError: CoffeeScript is not defined):
4: <title>Myapp</title>
5: <%= csrf_meta_tags %>
6:
7: <%= stylesheet_link_tag 'application', media: 'all', 'data-turbolinks-track': 'reload' %>
8: <%= javascript_include_tag 'application', 'data-turbolinks-track': 'reload' %>
9: </head>

When I delete lines 7-8, this works, but I would not have CSS or JavaScript.

I did not get this error about a week ago. I'm not sure what the reason is. I tried switching the versions of Rails. I tried uninstalling Postgres and setting it up again, but that doesn't seem to be the problem. I have Rails 5.0.0.1 and "Ruby 2.3.3p222 (2016-11-21 revision 56859) [x86_64-darwin16]". I also use Mac OS Sierra.

I can change the “application” to “default” and it works, but I don’t understand why it worked a week ago, and not now.

I also have my view and controller setup, which is why it works when I delete lines 7-8.
