I am having a problem with some C ++ code that I am running. Basically, it works great with most inputs, but with certain inputs it turns off after returning my main function. It was ... puzzling. I stopped the run in segfault to get the stack trace, and it returned this:

It made me think that I should do something wrong with regex, but I can't make life understand me. The way I use regex is that users can enter a bunch of strings. These lines can be plain text, or they can be regular expressions. Because of this, I mainly interact with all inputs as regular expressions. But what if the user gave a string that was intended as plain text but had a character that could be interpreted differently as a regular expression? What I am doing is going through the input lines of plain text and avoiding all these characters.
