Switch Android from GCM to Unidirectional Push Notification

I have an Android project using GCM push notification, but my client wants me to switch from GCM to one-way push notification. (Revolving) The project is a bit outdated and developed using eclipse. therefore my question; is it a good idea to switch to oneSignal and what is the difference between GCM and oneSignal? Better performance? more possibilities? Is it recommended to use it instead of GCM? Sorry, I'm new to Android and cannot find much information about oneSignal. Any help is much appreciated!
