How to save ActionDispatch :: ParamsParser :: ParseError and return a custom API error in rails 5?

Whenever you send the wrong JSON against my Rails 5.x API, I get an exception and Rails returns the entire stack trace as JSON. Obviously, I would like to answer a beautiful, non-standard, formatted error.

I used to think it was possible to add middleware and handle the exception as follows:

I also tried with other intermediaries (e.g. ActionDispatch :: ShowExceptions), saving various errors, but my action raise_bad_requestwas never called anyway.

Am I missing something, something is wrong, or is there another way to do this with Rails 5?
