Understanding iOS Development Certificates

We received an email from Apple: the iOS Development certificate has been revoked.

There are answers to SO on how to recover your certificate ( 1 , 2 ), but I have other questions.

  • Why was this canceled? I tried to run the application on my iPhone. I am doing this a second time - this time on a new MacBook on a new iPhone. Is this the problem that caused the email to appear?
  • What is the meaning of this letter? I can still run the application on one iPhone. Uninstalled it and reinstalled, and it worked fine. Is there a problem?

After creating a new certificate, you need to export it from Xcode-> Preferences-> Accounts-> YourAppleID-> ViewDetails-> Right-click the certificate-> Export.

You can then import it into a new Macbook without canceling it and creating a new one.
