Is MarkerClusterer deprecated? What should i use instead?

I need to implement a cluster of clusters and find the tutorial in the official Google Maps Documentation , but, following the link to the MarkerClusterer repo , it says that it is no longer supported and stored only for historical purposes.

Should I use something else or is it safe to use?
