Resize gkePersistentDisk volume after resizing gcloud calculations

Volumes created through GKE can be easily changed with gcloud compute disks resize [volume name from kubectl get pv]. The container will work.

However, a dfin the container will report the same size. More importantly, kubectl describe pvit will still report the initial “capacity”. Is there a way to increase real-time storage on a volume?

Official support may be on the roadmap, according to https://github.com/kubernetes/kubernetes/issues/24255#issuecomment-210227126 , but where does this discussion take place?
