IntelliJ Stuck "Scanning Maven Projects"

I just installed IntelliJ Community Edition recently. When I try to import a Maven project, it gets stuck in the "Scanning Maven Projects" step and says that it reads "... / pom.xml". It is stored here for about 10 minutes, leaves this window, and then does not import projects at all.

Some other posts recommended setting up the / etc / hosts file, but mine is already configured with 127.0.0.1 localhost. I set the proxy information in IntelliJ and in my .m2 / settings.xml file.

Any suggestions on how I can get IntelliJ to simply open my project?
