Can I get the icon from places.sqlite?

Question

I am doing webextension to manage bookmarks. The API bookmarksworks great. Now I would like to get a handle to the icons that are stored in the moz_favicondatabase table places.sqlite.

Still no luck, so the questions are:

• Is it even possible to access places.sqlitefrom within the web extension?
• if so, how?

At the same time, I did the same in Google Chrome. There access to the signs was quite simple thanks to a special URL. chrome://favicon/... Is there something similar here?
