Why gflags does not start, it splashes and exits immediately when I start it

When I run gflags on Windows 7, it should come up with an interface, but it is not. I see a short black command window that then exits and the gflags user interface never appears. This probably works from the command line, but I really want to work with it through the interface.

This answer probably doesn’t matter, but since this post appeared in the active list, and I remembered that the andbourse from the windbg team answered a similar request and provided a temporary workaround in which I decided to publish links and contents here from the lists osronline
